Freaked Time Signatures... [Jun. 27th, 2008|10:57 pm]

I’m a former Halifax Bank Of Scotland customer - but I really love the creativity of the Halifax adverts, particularly the new “We Are Saving” campaign.

However, when they bastardise the standard 4/4 time signature of the song that they’re covering in order to get more words in (and therefore produce an advert that costs less because they’re dropping 2 beats out of every few bars), it really makes me cringe.

I really don’t appreciate this kind of corner-cutting, particularly as I’m a musician myself.

A Virgo musician at that.

Y'know, I hadn't even noticed that, and I'm a current Halifax customer!

Try singing along with it as per Rod Stewart's version, and you'll see that the advert jumps ahead of itself a number of times.

As another Virgo musician, I feel your pain.

Have you seen the kind of adverts I mean in the States?
