Never throw anything away!! [Apr. 24th, 2002|12:18 pm]

That is the moral of this story.

I'm just trying to build up a server with some old hardware I have.
All is going perfectly until I realise how old this hardware actually is.

The keyboard port is an old 5-pin DIN.
All the keyboards I have are new 6-pin plugs.

I did have an old 5-pin keyboard, but I threw it away.

Heed this moral!!

Heeded and known

Of the four keyboards in front of me, only two are PS/2, the other two are DINs. That said I have 2 of each adapter in case I need to adapt them the other way.

I had exactly the same problem; got an adaptor, then lost it! Luckily Steph had another one!

While adaptors can get you by in pinch..Provided you don't lose the ^%#^% things...Nothing beats a techno-tar pit in your attic/basement.

Let's put it this way, if the Altair ever makes a comeback, I'm all set!

with dave he's hoping for a BBC computer comeback.. Personally I'm rooting for the old Amstrad tape deck machines.. some of the games were the best - though my cousin blew something up in mine.. pity i had about 380 games!

BBC Micro ROCKS :P

I still got my floopies with my first ever basic program on too, very proud of my Phone Directory program, got the highest mark in my computer studies course for that, even with the teacher that hated my guts too. I thik he was just jealous that i knew more about BBC Basic than he did at the time. Plus I hacked the school network a few times but he couldnt proof it was me though ;)

Old? OLD?!?!?!

I'll have you know that 75% of the PC's where I work have 5-pin Din connectiors...they use the latest cutting (well blunt really) edge technology - P133's with an enormous 32Mb of RAM!!

Our server is even more modern (just)....a P150 with 128Mb RAM! :)
