The Love Bug
Well, despite the general appreciation of my little experiment yesterday, there have been two or three people who have either taken offence to it, or not appreciated its purpose.|
What was its purpose? There wasn't one... it was just for fun. I just wanted to see what peoples reactions would have been to it. The kind of thing that usually happens on April Fools Day... but in June.
So, I sincerely apologise to anyone who did take offence to it... as that was not the reason for doing it. It was a spur of the moment thing, a snap decision, a "I wonder what would happen if..." moment.
geez. I think sometimes peolple take things (like LiveJournal) too seriously!
<sarcasm>Oh my gosh, you removed me from your friends list you bastard. Why do you hate me? And why the heck did you lie to me when making joke and say you had big news, only to let me down a second later?</sarcasm>
I think its just pathetic.
I would/do feel the slightest bit miffed if I get removed off people's friends list, but that's only because it does no-one any harm or problem if I am there. Whether I post a lot or not, that's not the issue. I don't look on friends pages always as a way to show what people write, I look at them as an indication as to the usernames of your friends on LJ.
But it does matter - if you post a lot and are on my friends page, then I will see all your posts. And that bothers me if I don't want to read them. Yes, I could set up a filter, but I don't want to do that (I have filters, but not for this purpose).
Well I suppose i'm talking more from a point of me. And i'll be honest, it's infrequent that I post. But I have been a little bit off-put when people have removed me off their friends list for no apparent reason.. the only real reason it can affect them is if they look at their user info frequently :)
Ohh what did YOU do?
Read the "Important Announcement" post on my Friends page
. It's currently the second post down.
That is what I did.
Well, I didn't "get it" but I didn't have a problem with it. I thought it was cute. *grin*

I found it amusing, but couldn't come up with answers to your questions. :)
As far as being taken off of people's friends lists, no one should take offense. Personally, one of my friends asked me to use cut tags because some of my posts were too long, or that I posted too many short entries. The only LiveJournal page I tend to look at anyway is my friends page, because I don't need to read my own entries, I wrote them.
Anyway, good experiment, people taking offense is silly.
Yep, people are taking things too seriously.
And that is the kookiest and kinda scariest icon I've seen!

Thanks. :) I found it last summer on Boston.com
along with a contest to write poetry about it or something and had to use it for an icon. It's definitely bizzare. :)
With all the shock announcements I've had over the Internet lately, particularly with James's incurable cancer, I've got a bit used to people having big announcements to make. I was worried the moment I read it, but the line about keeping an open mind made me think "Uh-oh, has Caroline caught Dave wearing her underwear?"
*runs away giggling*
