Nic & Ian's Wedding... [Dec. 1st, 2002|01:21 am]
The Love Bug
[Current Mood |happyhappy]

A fantastic day, with a fantastic couple.
We've just got back, and we're absolutely knackered.

I've uploaded the pictures from the day, but I've not really sorted them out or annotated them.
Here they are anyway! :-)

( Photo Gallery... )

A big hello to webgirluk and Brian (of no fixed LJ) who we had the chance to meet there. It was great meeting you guys, we'll have to meet up again soon! :-)

All that remains, is for Caroline and I to wish Ian and Nic all the very best in their new life together, and to thank them for allowing us to share in their very special day.

The groom and I wore the same suit, and I have to say that they were very comfortable!

Thanks for your comments! :-)

You're very welcome!

The suits were wonderful, so it's not fair! :) Wedding dresses are never comfortable because the girls have to wear all those layers of things underneath, and not to mention the awful pumps on the feet. :)

It was a great day and brilliant to meet up with you and Caroline after reading so much about you :) I look forward to getting together in the New Year. The photos are brilliant. Would it be okay if I saved a few of them and include the one of Brian on my LJ? Talk soon.

Be my guest! :-)

If you click on the thumbnail, and then click on the picture within the gallery, you'll get the full-sized original.

Having said that, you're more than welcome to link to the gallery pic... it'll save you having to host the pics elsewhere!

Awww Thanks!

I felt good on the day..

I really liked my hair the way that Julie(indoor hairdresser and brides mothers friend) did it..

She just used tongs to make it a little wavy so I think I'll do that again sometime ;o)

Cool stuff. Is Fotobilder the software you use to create the pages? I'm very impressed with the layout. Also, who do you use to host your web pages? Any recommendations? :o)

Fotobilder is a piece of software written by the creator of LiveJournal, bradfitz. It's hosted on our own Linux server, so the photogallery host is actually us! :-)

How is the IP resolved to that web address?

(Sorry to be dummy, but I'm trying to learn something here) :o)

In a nutshell, the domain moobug.net is jointly controlled by a server on our own network and a server that a friend of ours manages.

The hostname foto.moobug.net is then pointed to the IP address of the same server, and I've created a virtual host on the webserver on that machine to serve the Fotobilder software.

Basically :-)

OK .... how do you link the IP address that I assume was registered with foto.moobug.net (I assume this was registered as per normal) to foto.moobug.net?

Remember that I said that our server has control of the moobug.net domain?
Well, on that server there is a "map" for all its control elements and subdomains, known as a "zone".

This is the zone for moobug.net

; <<>> DiG 9.1.0 <<>> @ns1.moobug.net moobug.net. axfr
;; global options: printcmd
moobug.net. 86400 IN SOA ns1.moobug.net. hostmaster.moobug.net. 9 28800 7200 604800 86400
moobug.net. 86400 IN NS ns1.poggs.net.
moobug.net. 86400 IN NS ns1.moobug.net.
moobug.net. 86400 IN MX 10 mail.moobug.net.
charlotte.moobug.net. 86400 IN A 217.207.33.157
ermintrude.moobug.net. 86400 IN A 217.207.33.155
foto.moobug.net. 86400 IN A 217.207.33.157
herbie.moobug.net. 86400 IN A 217.207.33.154
mail.moobug.net. 86400 IN A 64.246.32.4
ns1.moobug.net. 86400 IN A 217.207.33.157
omni.moobug.net. 86400 IN A 217.207.33.156
www.moobug.net. 86400 IN A 217.207.33.157
zebedee.moobug.net. 86400 IN A 217.207.33.158
moobug.net. 86400 IN SOA ns1.moobug.net. hostmaster.moobug.net. 9 28800 7200 604800 86400

The bold item is the critical line that maps the hostname to the IP address.
