Hair Cut

(no subject)

We judge. It's so true... but we judge without cause.

For example, I hadn't really thought much about Gail Porter. All the lads at work rave on about her, 'cos she's so damn hot, etc, etc. It's so difficult to remember that beyond the opinions of other (perhaps biased) people, there is a real, live, human being. Having seen the Celebrity Blind Mans Bluff on telly the other night, I now view her in a totally different light. I now feel ashamed for the way I thought of her originally. She is a genuine human being, with feelings.

Another example, is someone that I met up with this evening. This person - whom I usually talk to on IRC - comes across as someone who is demanding and sometimes intimidating. This evening, whilst talking to this person, I had a much better idea of how their mind worked, and the reasons behind their actions. I now view *this* person in a much different light, and likewise feel some shame for the way I mentally disregarded them. If the person reads this, they'll possibly know who they are. But I shall not identify them openly.

Similarly, on the opposite side of the coin, there are some people who will be blind to the negative side of people, but this is not so common.

Why do we do this? 'Cos I know for a fact that I'm not the only one that does this.
Why can't we see past our own prejudices and see the real person within?
