Hoobastank - The Reason

This is a song that we heard a couple of months back, and I felt I had to share it with you.  I've included a small 1m12s sample of the song at the bottom of this entry.  It's in WMA format (I don't have an MP3 encoder at the moment).  Enjoy! :o)

Lazy week, Work, FotoBilder, Grass-covered Ground...

Lazy Week

Yes indeed, I'm having a lazy week.

Monday, after dropping Caroline into work, went home, went into Reading (Caroline had forgotten something), had lunch with Caroline, had a post-lunch with Chippy, nosed around the shops, brought some stuff, went home with Caroline.

Tuesday, after dropping Caroline into work, came home, watched a couple of videos, tried to get FotoBilder working (see below), picked Caroline up from station, went out for dinner.

Today, after dropping Caroline into work, tried to get FotoBilder working (see below again).

Work
Something I needed to do this week: go into work to hand over a process - well, <grass-covered ground> that (heh, see below for that too!!) for a laugh.  I'm now not going into work until next Wednesday. Result.

FotoBilder
FotoBilder is our photo host at foto.moobug.net.  It's running off our own server, but using software written by the wonderful brad.  Anyway, after a software upgrade last Monday, it stopped working.  It's taken this long, with the help of about 6 people from the fotobilder community to get it fixed.  Although all of the suggestions I was given aided in me solving the problem, it was my own work that got it fixed, and I'm well chuffed.  Particularly as I hardly know Perl at all! :o)

Grass-covered Ground
Yesterday, Caroline and I decided to open a swear-box.  For both of us, our language has become increasingly more colourful of late, and it's got to the stage when we don't even know we're doing it.  So, this swear-box will be weighed down by a nice shiny 50 pence piece (or larger denominations, depending on the circumstance! LOL) every time we utter a swear word.  The reason for the <grass-covered ground> phraseage above, is that we'd decided that this word constituted swearing.  A bit strict, perhaps, but somewhat necessary.  I suppose the rule is that if dictionary.com categorises the word as "Vulgar", then it constitutes as swearing.  Wish us luck! :o)

Sky Movies - Censorship...?

I've just watched a couple of bits of two different movies on Sky.

  • Project X (PG) - Matthew Broderick said "S**t" twice, and I'm sure he says it more in that film.

  • Mrs Doubtfire (PG) - Robin Williams just told someone to "P**s off" in a Porky Pig voice.  The PG certificate awarded was for a "cut" version, which I sure wouldn't have contained that phrase.

Now, I'm no prude, and strong language doesn't offend me... but aren't there censorship laws for this sort of thing??

Curse you, Murphy!

About 2 hours ago, the moon came out... nice and bright against a darkening sky.

I went to get my camera.  When I came back (not 40 seconds later), the moon had gone in.

It's still not come out.

Bah.
