And finally... [Apr. 16th, 2003|10:40 pm]
The Love Bug
... before I go to bed...

Please tell me that I'm not the only person who starts to crack everytime I see the advert for Cancer Research UK?

Every time I see it, with Eva Cassidy's soft rendition of Sting's "Fields of Gold", and the images of the loved ones fading away, I find myself really moved by it.

Does anyone else find this with this particular advert?
Are there any other adverts that do that to you?

Another advert that gets me everytime, is the one for Orange where the man is doing some surveying in the Arctic (or wherever) and his wife walks across the ice in her pyjamas and writes "Nite nite x" in the ice on one of the trucks. I think it's mainly the music that does it for me, but the whole atmosphere of the advert is just awesome.

Your not the only one, I have to look away when the boy in the mirror see's his mother, then disappears.
And the RSPCA do that to me too

The Cancer Research UK advert absolutely breaks my heart and I simply cannot bear to watch it. It's far too close to home for me. It could so easily be me with James smiling at me.

OH BUGGER! It's set me off, just thinking about it!

Definitely not the only one. I hate watching it when there are other people in the room because I often start crying...

both those adverts touch me, though in different ways. the ornage one makes me smile, the cancer one makes me cry/almost cry.

I really get moved by the NSPCC ones but they are so hard hitting I hope they have an effect on people.

As for the Cancer Research advert, isn't it sad when the mother says "Don't forget your hankie" to the little boy! So sad

*holds hand up*

Yup that one does it to me every time (and even more so now with the hormones!!!) and someone else mentioned the RSPCA one (with the ginger kitten) - I can't even watch that one - I have to turn the channel!

Yea it gets to me too, it's definatly the music I think.

I have to say I don't really agree with that type of advert, pulling so strongly at the emotions - I know charaties have to resort to ever stronger means in order to get people to donate money (as people become 'immune' to the effects of previous shock/immune adverts), but I feel like I'm being emotionally blackmailed making a donation and I wonder just how far these type of advers will go in the next few years.

Can't say the Orange one effected me much though.

I haven't seen the RSPCA one yet.

I totally agree with what you and all the others have said, thoes adverts have a way of pulling on the heart strings. what ones make you laugh? I like the loan company one (dunno which one as there are thosands!) where you got an arangatan (dunno how its spelt but its the orange monkey type thing!!) and he pulls faces and the other one that would garantee a laugh was the comic relief farting one (we would know all about that one wouldnt we? heheheh)
