The Love Bug
We, the UK, should be ashamed of that piece of crap that we spawned as our entry into the Eurovision Song Contest.
It has always been my opinion that the UK has always been at the forefront of music throughout the world. This years Eurovision entry just proves how wrong I was.
We couldn't even get our singers to sing in tune!
I'm utterly disgusted.
I wouldn't take Eurovision as an indication of the UK music industry :-) (even though a lot of it is up shit creek)
I agree - the performance tonight was very shaky & out of tune - maybe they were having a serious attack of the nerves.
It sounded much better on the radio, but it's still a very average song, which is typical for the UK entry I guess.
We could do with putting forward well-established British singers to show what we can produce, not unleashing musical virgins in to Europe!
I kinda wonder what the point of Eurovision is, or was. I'm guessing it was used to showcase new musical talent from around the world, and equally this new talent competes. When we are entering a song that is performed by puppets and written by a professional songwriter I kinda question the original point of it (if that was the case).
I agree completely!!!
(btw - didn't you and Caroline see the lovely anniversary post I left you the other day??? *sulks*)
Malta followed close behind. It's all about politics which I think is so disgusting. Hogan as usual was very amusing and we were trying to predict votes together with him.
Yes but it is made so crap on purpose so the other contries have a vague chance of winning!
Unfortunately, it's typical of the crapy music being produced in this country at the moment. The record companies are saying sales are down due to the internet etc. etc. etc. But in reality, it's due to people getting pissed off with covers, manufactured "STEPS" type music. Bring back "dirty" music that the companies hate - good example "The Prodigy".
Somebody mentioned to me that they thought Eurovision was meant for "not well known" bands in a particular country. If this is the case, then why TaTU for Russia? *shrugs*
I heard that Eurovision tends to be a lossmaker for the country holding it, so maybe we don't want to win, and should spend the money on things that need the money being spent on it, like schools that are having to be closed due to underfunding of good teachers etc :/
I was rooting for us to stay at 0 points toward the end, just because to have got 1 or 2 points would have been pathetic. To get none is spectacular ;)
Dave how do you get the link thing on the side and the reply to come underneath the entry like you have is it a different layout?
