stephaniewalker and grumpydave came up on Saturday evening. The basic plan that Saturday night would be a games and beer night, and Sunday would be a day out somewhere.
When they arrived, we asked them if they'd like to try Come And Have A Go, and they (grudgingly) agreed. The moment I'd registered us to play, I put the phone down and there was this uneasy silence. Then it was simply a case of: "Pub?", "Yeah." and we went out to the pub instead! :o)
You had to have been there!!!
So, we went and had a few beers at the Royal Oak... well Caroline didn't, so she opted to drive us back home. We spent the rest of the evening drinking beer (except Caroline) and playing Trivial Pursuit.
I tell you, I felt seriously dehydrated on Sunday morning!!!!
Anyway, on Sunday we went for a nice long walk at Chobham Common in Surrey. We had an old (2000) AA Walks book, and it recommended this 7-mile walk. We went slightly off the beaten track a couple of times, but never got lost. Half way around the walk there were a couple of pubs who, by the time we had got to them, had stopped serving food. We'd already done 4 miles and 3 hours of walking by this time, so we decided (after a nice cold beer) to cut the corner of the last 1½ miles and just head straight back to the car.
So by the end of it, we'd walked 5½ miles in about 5 hours (including pub stop), feeling tired but good. We stopped back at home to get changed as we were all pretty sweaty by this time (nice!). We then headed back to the Royal Oak for a really nice meal, before Steph and Dave had to head back home.
It was a really fantastic weekend - everyone really enjoyed themselves! :o)
