I just thought I'd let you know of a virus that was sent to me by an ICQ user.
I was offered this file as a kind of ICQ-like gateway to a chat facility. I accepted the file, but was dubious. The file was exactly 10,240 bytes large and was called muxchat.exe - although it could be called anything at all.
I didn't run the file (looks at Shaun), but I did look at the contents of the file (in Wordpad) and discovered that the phrase "Coded by Weird" was in it.
One quick search on the Symantec website revealed that this is actually a virus called W95.Wierd (or W32.Wierd) and can potentially be very harmful to your PC.
Having checked the makeup of the virus, it's unlikely that the virus would affect WinNT or Win2000, but don't take that as gospel.
This is basically a plea to you all to be extra vigilant when receiving files from unknown (and even known) sources. I was... and I'm ok. <g>

Merry Christmas folks!!! :-)
