The one... [Aug. 15th, 2004|12:08 am]
The Love Bug
[Current Mood |accomplishedaccomplished]

You may have noticed that in previous posts, I've mentioned that I've not come up with many 'quality' photographs from my new digital camera yet.  But, I knew that - one day - I'd come up with an absolute cracker.

And here it is...

I have not altered this image at all, except that I've cropped it down to 800x600 from the original 2016x1512 that it was when I took it.  It's not been zoomed or otherwise modified apart from that.  The photograph itself was taken at supermacro, with no optical or digital zoom.

I think its a good photo too.
Probably not the sort of thing I want to see just before going to bed (I first saw it last night) :P but a good pic all the same :)

If I'm being critical, perhaps the levels/contrast levels could do with bringing up a bit to display a bit more detail in the bee's head and also perhaps a little bit of sharpening (unsharp mask) but it's often difficult to sharpen macro pics as the shallow depth of field at such close distances tends to mean a lot of the image is out of focus anyway.

Thanks for that, Marcus. :o)

I do agree with you about the details on the bee's head, it's just a bit unfortunate that the bee was pointing away from the sun so I couldn't pick up as much detail.

Although I'll say with all honesty, I've never modified a picture after it's been taken, so I'm not really familiar with changing pictures post-snap anyway.
