The Love Bug
Six Apart has bought LiveJournal
This could go one of two ways...
Well, the negative as I see it, is that Six Apart mullers LiveJournal as a product; integrates it into MoveableType and/or TypePad; takes away the whole 'social community' aspect of LiveJournal; etc.
However, I'm looking towards the more positive side, as this is a very similar acquisition to the one that happened to the company that I work for in 2003.
I think from what I've read that isn't the way things will go. SA & Danga are both standing tall with the "we're not changing this" Mena of SA (President) has said she likes the social aspect of LJ and defintely does not want to change it. But she also likes the individuality of Typepad etc. They are both strong in the beliefs that they're staying the way they are, only getting better.
Hopefully the positive way.
Hey, I like the American "Gee, thanks for the heads-up, I thought it was closing down!" compulsive-stupid-comments *g*
That really gets to me. There are people, like me, who want to ask a sensible question. But I've got to battle throught the 1,500 arse-infested comments like "First comment!" and "Comment on historic post", and the resultant 30 comments in reply to those... before I can even get my question in!!!
They're largely overexcited Americans, different from Americans, and different from complete idiots.
Pat them on the head and give them a cookie :D
But you'll upset them unless you give them the "FIRST COOKIE" or "FIRST COOKIE IN A HISTORICAL MOMENT" ;-P
I think it'll be positive.. especially as Brad is staying on as Chief Architect.. I think that was all that was worrying me yesterday with the rumours - worrying that he was washing his hands of it all.. which I feel bad for even thinking ;-/
Reply on Brad's journal direct. Far less traffic.
Thats exactly what I do (and have done ;o))
Sooner or later time will tell which way it goes.. Both companies are in reassurance mode at present... Such is life
Six Apart seem like quite a good company, quite similar to LJ in many ways so hopefully there shouldn't be too many changes.
