In the morning, I had an appointment with Boots Opticians, for my 8-week check. Yes, I've been wearing my new lenses for 8 weeks! You may remember that on my two-week check, I was told I had dry spots on my right eye, and couldn't wear my lenses continuously. This time, I've been told that the dry spots have gone (woohoo!!), but I wasn't told whether I could wear my lenses continuously or not. I'll wait for my next appointment in 3 months time to broach that particular subject.
In general, my eyes are healthy, and I'm looking after them properly. :o)
In the afternoon, I had an appointment at the Prince Charles Eye Unit at King Edward VII hospital in Windsor. This was for a visual field test (press a button when you see the dots), and a general eye health visit. I was referred by my doctor, to whom I was referred by my opticians at my last full eye test. Apparently they were concerned about the increase of the level of my astigmatism.
At least, that's what they told me.
I found out yesterday, that the real reason that I'd been referred was because I had a slightly swollen optic nerve (or something similar) and that's why the optician was concerned.
Why on earth wasn't I told that at the time?? I don't really appreciate being misled when it comes to my own health. I'd far rather I was told about it.
Bah... anyway, I've officially been discharged from the Eye Unit as the consultant is happy that my eyes are perfectly ok.
... aside from my acute astigmatic myopia, of course! :o)
