Stupidity... [Nov. 14th, 2005|10:46 am]
The Love Bug
[Current Mood |embarrasseddumbarse]

I did something really stupid this morning, which made me late for work. I loaded up the steriliser with the bottles from the overnight feeds, so I could make up another batch of bottles for Caroline to use today.

When the steriliser finished, obviously it's very hot... and I usually use a fork to hook the rack out of the unit and move it onto the work surface. However, there was no fork to hand. So I used the handle of a spoon. It was all going so well, until I moved the rack over the void between the work surface and the cooker.

You guessed it, it fell. Rack, bottles, teats, sealing rings and lids all over the floor and under the sink unit.

So I had to re-wash and re-sterilise the whole lot.

Pratt.

"Certainly doesn't make you a pratt."

Maybe not, but it was the one word that I shouted out loudly when I dropped everything! ;o)

Oh the amount of times I did that. I've almost burnt off my fingertips at times, getting the bottles out of there so I can make up the formula! *laughs*

Usually, I would wait for about 10-15 minutes, but as I was already 15 minutes late for work, that option wasn't open to me!

Heh.

It's a sign of the good workmanship and build of our house! :o)

Although seriously, the kitchen door was closed, and so (I believe) was the bedroom door. There's no way you would have heard the crash, but it did sound bloody loud where I was!!!

Trial and error doesn't make you a prat, just makes you think twice about using a spoon! :-p
