The Love Bug
It's been a busy day today - up at 0630 to get ourselves ready to leave the house for 0830. We were going to my friend's third son's christening.|
Arrived at Edwinstowe at 0910 - too early, so we drove around looking at properties and amenities for a while. Got back to the church and went inside. St Mary's is a wonderful old english church which has been very tastefully modernised. We stood by the entrance waiting for the Baptismal Party to arrive, and on no less than 7 occasions got mistaken for the Baptismal Party! So we moved. :-)
The christening was really nice, very lightly done. We were noticed as non-locals, and had a fair number of local people asking how we were and where we'd travelled in from. Everyone was so friendly! Caroline and I have decided that when we move here, we'll make St Mary's our spiritual home.
Today is also my friend's second son's 6th birthday. So straight after the christening, we went to the Edwinstowe Cricket Club for his party. That was an interesting affair, with Amy not knowing what to make of the 14 or so screaming kids! As for the clown that was hired for the occasion... well, she deserved a medal for putting up with them! :o)
We'd realised, earlier on in the day, that we didn't have enough nappies to last the whole day, so we popped to the Tesco in New Ollerton to get some more. Interesting that Tesco are starting to do permit-only Parent And Child parking spaces... something which we both support, as we're both totally fed up with people using spaces they're not entitled to. I just hope that Tesco enforce the rules! The Tesco itself is quite small for an superstore, but perfectly adequate for a weekly shop.
We then went to the family home of conphie, lestat75 and the twin-barrelled conphiekids that is Connor and Sophie. Phil made us all dinner, and I got attacked by Sophie :o)
Amy was very unsettled for a while, so Karen suggested Gripe Water. That seemed to do the trick... and also precipitated the most phenomenal chain reaction of wet farts I've ever had the pleasure(!) of experiencing!
Anyway, I'm working in our Nottingham office tomorrow so I need to be up at 0545.
Somewhere in this post is a picture of Amy from this evening! :o)
