Network Security... [Mar. 19th, 2007|09:12 pm]
The Love Bug
Finally - after reading endless articles about the ineffectiveness of WEP - I've bitten the bullet and updated our wireless network to WPA. It was surprisingly easy, thanks to Wikipedia and NetworkManager. Even our mobile phones connect to the WLAN using WPA - I'm well chuffed.

Yeah, I know it's probably no big thing to most of you... but I'm happy :o)

Currently still trying to get my head round the New BT HOme Hub unit. driving me up the wall trying to get everytihng set up right.

At the moment we dont have any wireless devices so part of it is turned off, but I guess it would be worth updating anyhow. ;)

WEP is Good!

I've sniffed quite a few passwords by leaving an old 11meg AP switched on with extremely limited open net access :D

I also maintain an outgoing VPN connection for emergencies via a local person's wireless network (unique MAC for that job of course!) but they've got a virus'd up PC which seems to just spend all day spamming, so the bandwidth ain't great
