Charlie update... [Mar. 22nd, 2007|03:49 pm]
The Love Bug
She failed the MOT, but it cost more than a tenner to rectify it... more like £160!!! A component of the rear brake system was failing, and I don't take chances with the brakes.

Other things have been highlighted on advice, but we can't afford to get everything fone at the moment.

That means I won't get the car back until tomorrow, so I need to take the train into Nottingham. My FIL has offered to take me to and from Sheefield station, which is good as I really don't like bus travel.

Ouch.. Not good.

Thankfully my cousin is a mechanic and he keeps an eye on Lizs car so we generally get stuff highlited before it goes tits up on the MOT.

How come you're coming all the way into Sheff just to get the train, is it not possible to get on at Conny and change somewere?

Well if he gets train from conisbrough he'd either have to do...

conisbrough - doncaster then doncaster - grantham then grantham - nottingham (takes almost 3 hours)....

or...

Conisbrough - sheffield then sheffield - nottingham, but it'll take him about 30 mins to walk to conisbrough station then a 30 min train journey to sheffield (its a stop everywhere service).. whereas my dad can get him to sheffield station in about 20 minutes in car ;)

oh and yeh sucky re car but its gotta be done ;/

Dodgy, could have sworn the train i used to get to Leeds stopped at Conisbrough, then again that was about 9 years ago. lol.

Guess the lift option is the best all round then. ;)

Should have given me a call... Pug brakes really ain't difficult to work on and there are ways of getting parts *very* cheaply (literally the same as peugeot ones, just in a different coloured box!) - £160 could get you new pads, discs, shoes, callipers, cylinders, etc all round
