Update on "certain member of staff" [Oct. 29th, 2001|11:11 am]
The Love Bug
"Certain member of staff" called in sick today. Justin said, "Not again! It's always Mondays!"

I stopped in my tracks... and realised that he was spot on.

I contacted the employment agency and asked for clarification of sick leave... lo and behold, "Certain" was off on more Mondays that not!!! They are not happy with him.

Funnily enough, nor am I.

We have a theory that (to fuel his necessity to "play away from home") he goes away at the weekends to be with his other women. And then doesn't come back on Monday morning.

Sound suspect to you??

For historical information on this, read this thread.

Maybe you should call his wife and ask if he's okay as you're worried about him ;)

Don't you have a policy of "after xxx days of sick leave a medical certificate must be presented"? Or maybe you don't have sick leave...

As a company, we do... however, he is a temp and as such is actually employed by the temporary agency. It's their policies and rules that he must abide by, not ours - although they're not that different to ours.

I should add that they are definately not happy with his attitude either.

Not knowing the man, it's hard to say, but he might also have a weekend drinking problem and be hung over on Monday!

Well if he does he should get some help for it. If he says nothing then people are goign to keep thinking that hes is taking the piss and he'll get the sack from more jobs in the future....

Sometimes you cant tell what the hell people are up to, it's either his taking the piss or he does have a problem which he should get help with as soon as poss. but remeber HE has to ask for the help in the first place and realise that is has one in the first place.

Could just ask him straight out next time Dave sees him, Whether he got a problem or taking the piss? Atleast dave would know either way

Hi Gary :-)

Yes, I believe that could be part of it, but I've caught him out before, and it wasn't hangover-related.

But let's see what he says tomorrow.
